Benjamin Ward is an award-winning music director, pianist, and writer.
As a writer, Ben's songs have been performed in concert at iconic venues across the UK and the US including 54 Below, The Green Room 42, The Other Palace, and The Arts Theatre in London's West End.
Ben’s two-hand song cycle YOU AND I has released an acclaimed concept EP and appeared at the iconic 54 Below in NYC, featuring Heartstopper’s Bradley Riches.
Written with collaborator Timothy Michuda, TURING received a developmental reading as part of Theatre on the Verge’s New Musicals Festival, where it won 9 awards including ‘Best Musical’ and ‘Best Lyrics’, and a world-premier production at Chicago’s DePaul University in the summer of 2024.
Ben’s first stand-alone album GOLDEN DAYS was released on Joy Machine Records in 2025, to critical acclaim. His four-hander chamber musical WORLD ENOUGH, AND TIME recently presented a rehearsed reading at The Other Palace in London, featuring Dear Evan Hansen’s Ryan Kopel.
As a music director and pianist, Ben has worked on a wide range of London shows-in-concert, including BARE: A POP OPERA, EDGES and ORDINARY DAYS, and has often been noted in reviews for his engaging piano playing and instinctive understanding of the relationship between music, accompaniment and text. In autumn 2024, Ben served as music supervisor for the off-West End transfer of [TITLE OF SHOW] at the Southwark Playhouse.
Ben received his master’s degree in Writing and Design for Musical Theatre from Berklee College of Music, where he studied on a scholarship. He received his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and also undertook additional studies at New York University, the Los Angeles College of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Ben is a proud member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, the Dramatists' Guild of America, and the Musicians’ Union.
